Trainer Biography

Alyce LaViolette, MFT

Alyce LaViolette began working with victims of domestic violence in 1978 and founded one of the first programs in the country to work with perpetrators in 1979.  She speaks and trains nationally and internationally and has served on the U.S. Department of State’s Speaker’s Bureau.  Speaking meets my theater arts needs and allows me to also meet my need for social justice and engagement.  I love meeting new people and creating an environment in which folks are encouraged to critically think about issues.  I have appeared on television and radio—which also meets my theater arts needs.  I really enjoy traveling and when I have traveled for business, I meet people who stimulate my thinking with their ideas.  I also get to see some great places.  I have traveled around the country and spoken in 27 states (and spoken in 8 countries).  I love learning about cultures and sharing time with folks from cultures different then my own.  I am a movie buff and use film as a vehicle for change with clients.  I spend lots of time with family and friends and that means the world to me.
