The Academy community gathered for this year’s all-staff picnic, our only in-person event which staff anticipate throughout the months leading up to it. The gathering provides an opportunity to reconnect, celebrate our work together, and recognize staff contributions to the organization.
This year’s picnic transformed into “Heart + Mind: The Pulse of Practice Festival 2025,” a vibrant music festival designed to boost morale and foster connection during a time of organizational change. After several months of thoughtful planning, the Picnic Planning Committee, brought this vision to life with a festival concept intentionally aligned with the principles our Academy community embodies: Heart (connection, creativity, and care), Mind (learning, strategy, and focus), Practice (wellness, discipline, and personal growth), and Collaboration (teamwork and community building).
Every activity reflected these elements. Staff contributed to a community mural and created bracelets to highlight Heart, participated in trading pins and friendly competition for Mind, and engaged in a wellness station featuring yoga and intention setting for Practice. Collaboration wove through the day via a community potluck and shared playlist where staff added their favorite songs. The planning committee created a space where staff could relax, listen to music, and enjoy good vibes without thinking about work—or so we tried.
The celebration also honored staff through Years of Service Awards, recognizing those who have dedicated 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25 years to the Academy. These awards highlight the commitment staff bring to the organization and their continued contributions toward revolutionizing the way people work to ensure the world is a healthier place.
Staff praised the decorations, abundance of food, engaging activities, and great music that set the tone for the day, this is a testament to the Picnic Planning Committee’s thoughtful efforts.
