When our partners shared a growing need for more practical tools to support APS professionals during home visits, especially in moments of heightened tension, APSWI responded with purpose.

We built upon the April 2025 delivery, “Safety: Beyond the Basics – Ensuring Safety When Conducting Interviews,” we developed a new Instructor-Led Training (ILT) focused on De-escalation Skills, along with a companion video, De-escalation During a Home Visit.

This new resource gives professionals practical tools they can use with confidence and care. The video shows best practices in action, helping staff visualize effective techniques and adapt them to their own style and everyday situations. Whether used on its own or as part of existing training, it offers flexible, high-impact support to strengthen the workforce. This is one more way we contribute to turning learning into action, so APS professionals feel ready and supported to respond with skill, empathy, and safety in every home they enter.
