Coaching in Supervision

Intended Audience: This class is intended for supervisors, managers and administrators in child welfare settings
Description of Course: This is a half day course that will review evidenced based practices of coaching, current models of coaching, and linking coaching to the role of the supervisor in working with staff to enhance critical thinking skills
Intended Objectives:
- Identify coaching as an evidenced based practice that enhances employee’s professional development, enhance staff morale and reduces staff turnover
- Link coaching as an enhancement to critical thinking in engaging families
- Identify current coaching models in child welfare settings
- Develop 1-3 action steps to apply coaching techniques on the job.
Topics Include:
- Definition and review of the literature on coaching
- Coaching, supervision, appreciative inquiry, solution focused questions in supervision
- Integrating coaching into supervision
- Three question mapping
