CWDS Updates

Update on Land Acknowledgements: We encourage our Facilitators to continue to learn about land acknowledgements and the importance of them in trainings/deliveries as well as what tribal land they reside in. Going forward, our Training Operations Assistants will continue Land Acknowledgements in the training room to ensure uniformity in our practices.

  • It is the responsibility of the Academy staff members to deliver the land acknowledgments prior to the beginning of the curriculum. Facilitators must create space and ensure the TOAs have the opportunity to deliver it.
  • Facilitators need to find out and acknowledge the land they are presenting from, which can be identified using the Native land website.
  • Land acknowledgment slide decks, Tribal name pronunciation and the protocol(being updated this week) can be located in the Land Acknowledgement drive folder.
  • In order to encourage action and prevent virtue signaling, a Take Action PDF to support Native American causes and land back efforts has been included to be shared with trainees, along with the Native land website, which are located in the presenter notes of each slide deck.

Zoom Tips:

  • When sharing videos on Zoom, click the “share computer sound button” before you share the selected window. This will allow you to mute your microphone while a video is playing for the class.
  • On your video settings while in Zoom, at the very bottom you can change your gallery view to fit a maximum of 49 participants.
