Trainer Biography
Candice Kimbell, LCSW
Ms. Candice Kimbell, LCSW earned her B.A. in Anthropology from California State University, Northridge and her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California in 2008. Ms. Kimbell is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and specializes in children’s mental health.
Ms. Kimbell is a Practice Consultant for San Bernardino County. She has over 13 years of experience working in the Child Welfare sector. She comes to PCWTA from Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (DMH), Child Welfare Division where she was the Training Administrator over mental health programs county wide.
Ms. Kimbell began her career in a non-profit Foster Family Agency where she was responsible for intake and matching children to suitable foster care placements. Ms. Kimbell then transitioned to Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) as a Children’s Social Worker (services worker). She expanded her work in the sector and crossed over to Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, Specialized Foster Care program providing mental health assessments, short-term treatment and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral therapy to foster children.
Ms. Kimbell later moved on to DMH Child Welfare administration where she supported the implementation of the Katie A. Core Practice Model county wide. Ms. Kimbell developed a Core Practice Model training curriculums and trained and coached Child Welfare and Mental Health social workers, supervisors, managers, and community partners to best practices. Ms. Kimbell is a champion for best practices and have been involved in several Child Welfare case reviews with L.A. County DCFS Quality Service Review team as well as Utah State Qualitative Case Review process. Ms. Kimbell served as the L.A. County DMH liaison for California Partnership for Permanency and frequently engaged in panel discussions about reducing the racial disproportionalities within the foster care system. Ms. Kimbell also has a wealth of experience in Child and Family Team engagement and facilitation, inter-agency collaboration, and partnering with stakeholders.
