PCWTA Cultural Responsiveness Academy Program Coordinator
Wanjiru Golly was born and raised in Kenya and came to San Diego in 1993 for graduate studies. She has a PhD in Psychology, with an emphasis in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and has completed her 3000 hours towards licensure. Wanjiru worked as a Human Resources professional for 4 years before following her passion of working with children and families. She worked for 4 years with 2 non-profit organizations that served Refugee and Immigrant communities in City Heights, where she supervised a unit that provided family self sufficiency programs, she provided leadership trainings, community organizing support, and also advocated for the community. Wanjiru then joined the County of San Diego, Child Welfare Services Agency as a Protective Services Worker, where she worked for 8 years in Investigations, Continuing Services, and Pathways to Wellbeing programs. Wanjiru became an Independent Contractor for PCWTA in 2007 where she trained classes on the Refugee and Immigrant communities, Intimate Partner Violence, and Social Work Practice in a Multicultural Environment. She was also a Practice Coach for Imperial County, and a SOP Coach for Orange County – a role she continues to fill.
