Staff Biography

Jasmine Hartenstein
Cultural Responsiveness Services Consultant

Jasmine Hartenstein joins the Academy with thirteen years experience working with Northern California’s Bay Area immigrant and refugee communities with a racial equity and inclusion focus. Before joining the Academy, Jasmine worked at the City of San Jose’s Office of Racial and Social Equity as their Inclusion and Belonging Manager, working to implement more inclusive strategies, programs, and policies for San Jose’s foreign-born population. Previously, Jasmine started San Mateo County’s Immigrant Services Program and led priorities and initiatives that would better serve the County’s immigrant residents. Having initially started her work in the Bay Area with the International Rescue Committee, she interned in their Oakland office as a Financial Literacy Coordinator and transitioned to work as an Immigration Caseworker for their San Jose Office, implementing their Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals services.

 

Jasmine received her Bachelor’s degree in International Business with a minor in International Security and Conflict Resolution at San Diego State University and completed her Master’s degree in International Peace Studies at the University for Peace in Costa Rica.
