When did you join the Academy, and what was your position when you first joined?
I joined the Academy in July 2019 as an Administrative Assistant and Receptionist.
How has working at the Academy revolutionized your career and/or your life?
At a young age, I knew that it was my life’s purpose to create a positive impact in this world by helping others. As I grew up and attended college, I realized that my career passion is in the nonprofit sector. So, working at the Academy perfectly blends what I believe to be my life purpose and my career passion. I’m doing what I love on a professional level at the Academy and it inspires me to continue doing what I love outside of the office setting. Throughout my experience working at the Academy thus far, I’ve learned to align what I love to do on a professional level, courageously ask questions and use my voice, embrace my authentic self, expand my knowledge, and recognize the ways I can positively impact the lives of others.
What is your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of my job is the opportunities for connection and collaboration among the Academy. As the Administrative Coordinator, I have the privilege of providing an orientation to every incoming staff member and I love the opportunity to share with them what the Academy has to offer. I also love the multitudinous opportunities I have to assist everyone at the Academy because it helps me get a better insight into how each program within the organization functions and how they interconnect with one another.
What is a fun fact we should know about you?
I have five different Instagram accounts as a way to organize my different hobbies and interests. I love to blog, and vlog, and I have my podcast, Genuinely Genel, that can be found on Apple Podcast and Spotify.
