Dawn Schoonhoven Scott is the Program Director of the Public Child Welfare Training Academy. Ms. Schoonhoven Scott has over twelve years of experience in the field of child welfare. She was a child welfare worker and supervisor with the County of San Diego Child Welfare Services for 7 years. In this time she worked and supervised several programs including Emergency Response, Continuing Services, Voluntary Services, Placement, Team Decision Making Meeting and Quality Assurance.
Ms. Schoonhoven Scott also worked for 4 years as a hospital social worker providing counseling services to women at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital. She currently develops curriculum, provides coaching and field-based training, and provides in-person training for Child Welfare agencies across the state of California. Ms. Schoonhoven Scott has supported the implementation of Safety-Organized Practice, coaching/field-based training and the Pathways to Mental Health/Katie A. Core Practice Model in the Southern California area and across the state of California.
