Charmaine Utz, LCSW
CWDS Workforce Development Coordinator
Charmaine Utz is the Workforce Development Coordinator at the Academy for Professional Excellence, where she develops and coordinates training curriculum in partnership with child welfare stakeholders for the Child Welfare Development Services (CWDS). Charmaine has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 10 years (in the counties of Los Angeles and San Diego), supervising various child welfare programs for over weight years. Her work has focused on program development, staff training and coaching, leadership development, and team building.
Charmaine has served as a subject matter expert on issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and having courageous conversations. She has been involved in numerous capacity building and community outreach efforts through serving as Chair and Co-chair of committees, facilitating agency/regional trainings, and participating in the professional growth of staff in various collaborative networks.
Charmaine Utz has a BA in Psychology from California State University, Los Angeles and a Master Degree in Social Work from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Throughout her career, she has worked as a clinical support to staff and managers with special attention to dimensions of diversity. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has presented at conferences across the country on topics such as model fidelity and working with youth and families. Charmaine brings a creative, collaborative approach to teams and believes that it is necessary to influence meaningful change.
