Trainer Biography

Agustin Valadez, MS, LMFT

Agustin Valadez is a bicultural/bilingual Spanish speaking therapist in the San Diego area. Currently he is the Assistant Program Director of Douglas Young Youth and Family Services, a children’s program of Community Research Foundation. Before entering the field of mental health, Mr. Valadez served in the United States Army for 8 years. Mr. Valadez has been in the field of mental health for 15 years and is currently responsible for the training, mentoring, and development of practicum students and associate therapists. He has been at the fore front of developing program specific approaches to working with families of varied cultures to prepare staff in providing culturally appropriate and sensitive mental health services. Mr. Valadez is also in private practice in Chula Vista where the majority of his clients are bilingual/bicultural Spanish speaking of Hispanic or Latinx origin and is a board member of ALAS (Asociasion Latina de Salud Mental de San Diego) an association focused on cultivating culturally confident and competent providers in all areas of the mental health field.
