Trainer Biography

Elizabeth "Lizz" Gravenberg, BA

Elizabeth “Lizz” Gravenberg has over 24 years experience working with children and families within Riverside County. Elizabeth began working with children in 1996 during an internship with Operation Safehouse, a shelter for runaway teens. Her initial plan was to utilize her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice/Sociology to establish a career in law enforcement. However, a passion was ignited to work with vulnerable and at-risk youth.

Elizabeth started her career at a 30 bed residential facility as a child care worker for probation placed youth age 12 -17. During her role in this agency, Elizabeth collaborated with probation agencies, juvenile halls and mental health specialists for the treatment and rehabilitation of juvenile sex-offenders. Elizabeth eventually became the Program Manager developing and training line staff as well as assisting in the successful rehabilitation and graduation of youth offenders from the program.

In 2003, Elizabeth was hired as a program manager for a non-public school serving youth age 6- 14 at an 80-bed residential facility. She developed behavior modification programs and training of line staff. Elizabeth promoted to various positions within the residential facility to include Intake Coordinator and Residential Manager. She was responsible for the intake of children, management of the residential program, training of staff, development of recreation programs, policies and procedures and ensuring that County and State requirements were met.

In 2007, Elizabeth transitioned to Riverside County Dept. of Social Services, Children’s Services and has held various roles; social services practitioner, program specialist, supervisor and currently serves as a Regional Manager. She has worked in several programs to include; investigative services, court dependency, family reunification, permanency placement and administration.

Throughout her 24 year career working with children and families Elizabeth has enjoyed helping families in crisis and successfully reunifying children, her continuous role as a trainer, learning from others, sharing experiences and knowledge in hopes of making a positive impact.
