Trainer Biography

Christina Lin, MSW

Christina Lin received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychobiology at UCLA in June 2000 with an original vision of pursuing a career in the health field. However, after some time off from school and some soul searching, Christina pivoted to her heart’s passion in social welfare and returned to UCLA for her Master’s in Social Welfare. After completing school, Christina worked for Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services for twelve years, spending seven years a social worker in Continuing/Ongoing Services and Dependency Investigations, and five years as a supervisor in Emergency Response.

In October 2015, Christina moved away from direct practice and joined UCLA Academy of Workforce Excellence. Ever since joining UCLA, Christina has been a trainer for newly hired line social workers as well as newly promoted supervisors. Amongst several different training areas that Christina works in, one of her primary focus areas is in Structured Decision Making (SDM), including helping Los Angeles County develop a large-scale webinar training series for social workers, supervisors, and managers, covering fundamental areas of SDM. When Christina is not thinking about SDM or other important topics in child welfare, Christina enjoys playing tennis and other games with her family and enjoying the outdoors with her dogs.
