Trainer Biography

Carl "Drew" Miller, LMFT

Carl “Drew” Miller began his career as a helping professional when completing a Bachelor of science degree in Human Services from California State University (CSU) Fullerton in 2004.  

After spending 2 years in non-profit social work supporting  family caregivers, Drew began working for Riverside County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS), Children’s  

Services Division (CSD), which he has done continuously since 2006. Drew was first a social worker, then a  supervisor of social workers, and for the last 7+ years has worked in administration promoting  continuous quality improvement throughout the agency. This work has included being a  Child/Family Services Review (CFSR) case reviewer, CFSR Quality Assurance (QA) staff,  grievance hearing officer, and supervisor of the County’s System Improvement Plan (SIP)  agreement with the California Department of Social Services (CDSS). 

Drew has provided training to many employees in his career at CSD around topics related to  continuous quality improvement. For 8 years, Drew also taught a child abuse detection,  intervention, and treatment course to Master’s degree candidates in the Marriage and Family  Therapy program at Hope International University.

Drew is also a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) with a part-time private practice  where he specializes in trauma work, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing  (EMDR) and Brainspotting (BSP) therapies. 

Drew is passionate about continuous quality improvement and loves supporting child welfare staff  in their efforts to serve children and families with the highest degree of care, professionalism, and  integrity.
