Trainer Biography

Ashley Castro, LCSW

Ashley Castro is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker working within multiple roles. Ashley Castro got both her Bachelor’s in Social Work and Master’s in Social Work with a Child Welfare Emphasis from California State University, San Bernardino. Ashley has had a passion for child welfare since she was 15 years old where she had her first job working as a recreation leader for a youth sports program. Working within the community has always been her passion.

With over 9 years of experience in Child Welfare, Ashley currently serves as a Staff Development Officer with Riverside County Department of Public Social Services, Children’s Services Division. Ashley is responsible for staying current on the policy and practice of Children’s Services and provided quality training to new and current Social Service Workers within the agency. Prior to this role, Ashley was a Social Service Worker, working various roles such as Investigations, Continuing Services, Field Supervisor, Supervisor, and other key roles to develop her skills. In addition, Ashley currently maintains her role as a Clinical Therapist outside of her full-time role to keep abreast and plugged in to providing quality mental health services with those struggling with various forms of trauma.

Ashley has served on multiple committees and held many leadership roles during her career. This would include committees such as Child Sex Trafficking Task Force, Grief Support, Faith in Motion (connecting the faith community to the foster community), Love in Action (faith based foster organization), and many more. Ashley has been involved in many initiatives to providing increased support to the youth in foster care. 

Outside of work, Ashley enjoys connecting with members of the community. Ashley will spend her free time either reading up on the latest therapy interventions  and social work journals or she will be spending time detaching and decompressing by building a puzzle or reading a book.

Ashley is driven by her core strengths, Focus, Futuristic, Achiever, Arranger and Harmony. Ashley has a creative approach to allow her to identify solutions to problems. Ashley has a passion to teach Child Welfare and will do everything in her power to bring awareness and education to working with families.
