Trainer Biography
Andres Lopez
Andres (they/them) is a Mexican American Non-Binary person born and raised in South Bay San Diego. They graduated with a Bachelor’s in Sociology from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 2019, and is a proud community college transfer student who went to San Diego City College. Andres has facilitated many workshops and trainings about gender and sexuality since being in community college, first beginning this work as a member of a school organization focusing on feminist education and activism. While at UCSC, Andres facilitated educative workshops and developed LGBTQIA+ specific curriculum for the general student body and student organizations as a Peer Educator Intern. They are committed to centering Queer and Trans Black, Indigenous, and People of Color’s experiences in all aspects of their life, including their work in education and social services. Andres aims to do this work with intention and care. Currently, they are a Youth Support Partner at Our Safe Place, an LGBTQ+ drop-in center for youth ages 12-20 located in Chula Vista. In this role, Andres continues to provide LGBTQIA+ education for service providers as well as mentorship to LGBTQIA+ youth. Their goal is to foster spaces that center Queer and Trans joy, especially in the South Bay San Diego area.
