Dr. Aleida Murcia, MSW, LCSW, DSW

Dr. Aleida Murcia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, educator, child welfare trainer, researcher, and founder of Vida Plena Therapeutic Services. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Social Work from California State University, San Bernardino, as well as a Doctor of Social Work from Barry University. She worked for San Bernardino County Children and Family Services for more than 10 years, gaining extensive experience in child welfare practice, leadership, and supervision. She also brings experience in behavioral health, clinical practice, higher education, trauma-informed care, ethical practice, and culturally responsive services.
 

Dr. Murcia provides professional training for child welfare academies and serves as an adjunct professor in Bachelor and Master of Social Work programs at UMass Global and National University. As the founder of Vida Plena Therapeutic Services, she provides clinical services, professional training, and supervision to support the mental health needs of diverse individuals, couples, and families. Her research focuses on polyvagal-informed supervision and practical, supervisor-led strategies to reduce empathic distress, secondary traumatic stress, and burnout among child welfare professionals. Her work reflects a strong commitment to strengthening the social work workforce, advancing trauma-informed practice, and promoting the well-being of clinicians and the communities they serve.
