Counties have voiced a need for focused training to better equip Adult Protective Services professionals with practical de-escalation skills to implement during various encounters. Adult Protective Services Workforce Innovations (APSWI) piloted four (4) deliveries of the newly developed De-escalation Skills Instructor-Led Training in October and November of 2025 to meet this need.

The pilots were completed successfully. Over 100 learners participated, and revisions were made incorporating their input along with feedback from the facilitator and the APSWI team. Learners shared excitement and appreciation for the content and the facilitation. The feedback included phrases like:

“I will be able to utilize new techniques when working with clients and the community. I feel better equipped to manage or de-escalate crisis situations.”

“Ruth facilitated an amazing training. It was engaging and interactive. I really love all the experience Ruth brings to this training. I also felt supported in growing and evolving as a human first then social worker. Thank you!”

“The information shared is key for when we go out in the field.”

“Great training, I needed this!”

We invite Adult Protective Services programs to utilize the training materials in your APS program.
