Trainer Biography

Roger De Leon, BA

Roger De Leon is currently a Parent Partner with the Parent Partner Program for Riverside County’s Children Services Division and has been in this position for six years. He was the first Parent Partner hired for Riverside County, and is one of the originals who was a part of developing and maintaining this program. He has the role of in-charge and has helped train all of the new supervisors that come into the Parent Partner Unit. Roger has had lived experience with the child welfare system and was successful in navigating this system over an eight month period of time and he was able to reunify with his family. He has also lived experience with Child Support and Family Law.

He has been a part of different fatherhood coalitions. He is one of the founders and steering committee members for Riverside County’s “Dads Assisting Dads” (D.A.D) coalition to help bring awareness of the importance of a father’s presence and participation in building families. He has developed and presented to all agency levels, community partners and court services on the importance of father inclusion and awareness and the importance of Parent Partners. He is currently a member of the Parent Partner Advisory committee (PPAC) and has been for the past three years. He is also an Instructor for the University of Davis Resource Center for Family Focus Practice, and for San Diego State University Cultural Responsiveness Academy.

He has worked for public, private agencies, and currently volunteers for a faith-based organization and has done this for nearly 18 years. The focus and passion on his work is to help families which includes working with at-risk youth in group homes, volunteering for an alternative juvenile probation program as a mentor and working with young people as a Youth Minister/ Assistant Minister at his local church. He has also worked with many parents to help them navigate the child welfare system in order to reunify with their families. Roger has a passion for advocating for the voice of dads in all government and community agencies.
On a national level, Roger is a member of the Birth Parent National Network, has worked with the Children’s Alliance, and Casey Family’s as a Parent/Father Voice.

Roger is currently working on his Bachelors Degree in Human Services at California Baptist University where he is maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
He is the 2019 Parent Leadership Award recipient, an award given by CDSS- Child Office of Child Abuse Prevention and The Child Abuse Prevention Center along with other awards from Riverside County. He has had training in induction with social workers for Riverside County and is aware of child welfare functions, policies and procedures, has been trained in Parent Partner roles and now is a trainer. He is a trainer for parenting classes.
On his off time, Roger loves to spend time with his family, especially his three beautiful grandchildren, he loves to get away with his wife and loves to go on fishing trips.
