Steven Wells, MA
Steven Wells currently works as a Protective Services Supervisor (PSS) with the County of San Diego – Child Welfare Services and has over 12 years of experience working in Child Welfare as a line social worker and a senior social worker, and has supervised social workers for the past three years.
Steven spent his first 7 years in Child Welfare as a social worker in Residential Services where he carried a caseload of children who were placed in licensed group homes or therapeutic foster care. In 2005, Steven was promoted to a senior social worker. He continued to work in Residential Services then eventually transitioned to the Medically Fragile unit where he remained until late 2010 at which time he was promoted to his current PSS position. As a PSS, Steven supervised both a court services and court intervention unit. Steven is currently supervising the unit in charge of the implementation of the Pathways to Well-being (Katie A) initiative in San Diego County.
Steven has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado (2001) and a Master of Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy (2005). Steven also has over four years of experience working in mental health settings such as inpatient psychiatric facilities, day treatment programs, and outpatient mental health clinics.
Steven has been a resident of California since 2001, having moved from his beautiful home state of Colorado after graduating with his Bachelor’s degree. Steven was born and raised in Gunnison, Colorado, often touted as the “Coldest spot in the lower 48 states” (where the record low is -60 degrees) and sits at 7,703ft in elevation. Steven enjoys playing sports, loves spending time in the outdoors, and loves to travel.
