Trainer Biography
Heidi Stern-Ellis, LCSW
Heidi Stern-Ellis is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has focused her practice in the arena of child maltreatment. For the past 20 years, she has been employed at San Diego’s Rady Children’s Hospital and Health Center, Chadwick Center for Children and Families. She has functioned as a trauma therapy clinician, intern supervisor, and presented on various topics related to the trauma field. Ms. Stern-Ellis has also been an active part of the Children’s Behavioral Health Crisis Response Team. This includes extensive training in Psychological First Aid. Currently, Ms. Stern-Ellis is the clinical supervisor for The Chadwick Center’s South Bay Trauma Counseling Program. She brings a vast amount of experience to this position including the most cutting edge practices in trauma treatment.
Ms. Stern-Ellis also provides specialized trainings specific to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community at the local, state and national level. She is a trainer for the Public Child Welfare Training Academy where she focuses on assisting the Child Welfare System in decreasing the risk factors for LGBTQ youth. Ms. Stern-Ellis is a co-author of a trauma brief for the National Child Traumatic Stress Network which highlighted the risks and treatment for LGBTQ youth. Ms. Stern-Ellis also served as a member of the National Child Traumatic Network Cultural Consortium.
