Trainer Biography
Apryl M. Amerson, MSW
Apryl Amerson began working with Riverside County in 2001, she joined Children Services in 2014. Ms. Amerson currently serves as a Regional Manager for Riverside County DPSS, Children Services Division. In this role, she oversees the division’s Child Abuse hotline, Prevention Services and Mobile Strike Team. Before transitioning to the Child Abuse hotline, Ms. Amerson worked as an Operational Manager overseeing investigations in Hemet and San Jacinto. Ms. Amerson earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Services, from the University of Phoenix. She then earned her Masters of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Southern California (USC). She is currently completing her Doctorate in Social Work at Simmons University.
Ms. Amerson is passionate about addressing the marginalization of people of color in child welfare systems. Her passion projects include destigmatizing therapy in Black communities and normalizing Black men seeking brave spaces to process childhood and generational traumas.
In her spare time, Ms. Amerson attempts to garden even though lacks a green thumb, she is persistent in her efforts.
