Trauma Resource Institute: Community Resiliency Model

Level: Advanced Practice – Lineworker or Supervisor

Credits: 7.5 Hours

Intended Audience: Course is intended for lineworkers or supervisors to learn how to use the Community Resiliency Model for self-care

Description of Course: Course will review the concepts of the Community Resiliency Model and how to use the skills from this model for self-care.

Intended Objectives:

  • Learn three or more key concepts of the Community Resiliency Model including the Resilient Zone and Stuck on High/Low.
  • Describe three or more ways traumatic/stressful life experiences affect an individual physically, cognitively, behaviorally, psychologically and spiritually.
  • Describe the parasympathetic and sympathetic arms of the autonomic nervous system and their impact on traumatic stress symptoms.
  • Practice the six skills of the Community Resiliency Model and how to use these for self-care.
  • Understand current evidence-based research that describes the effectiveness of the Community Resiliency Model.

  • Resiliency and Trauma Defined
  • Defensive and Protective Responses
  • Explicit and Implicit Memory and working with stories
