San Diego, May 10th, 2021 – The Children Youth and Families System of Care (CYFSOC) Training Academy, and the Responsive Integrated Health Solutions (RIHS) are proud to announce the 2021 CYFSOC Conference: Youth Substance Use: Risk, Resilience, Reconnection. The event will be taking place virtually from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm on Thursday, May 27th, 2021.

This year’s virtual conference will bring together people from behavioral health, education, social services, public safety, and the community; as well as caregivers and youth receiving services to explore the latest trends in substance use and its effects on youth, families, and communities.

Rose Woods, Manager of the Responsive Integrated Health Solutions (RIHS) and one of the event organizers adds, “We know that young people are more vulnerable to developing substance use disorders. Our goal is to bring our system of care together and share knowledge and resources related to youth substance use trends and treatment, so we feel empowered and supported to identify risk, celebrate resilience, and foster reconnection.”

Participants will gain a better understanding of how to best support youth who are using or contemplating using substances. They will be provided with tools and resources to enhance engagement and more effectively assess for youth substance use and enhance youth and family engagement.

Conference topics will include substance use trends, youth access, prevalence, risk factors, and temporary and permanent physiological and psychological effects on the developing brain and body. Protective factors, which are instrumental in building resilience and healthy development will be examined throughout the day’s presentations.

Attendees are encouraged to download the Whova app on their mobile devices to access the conference agenda, learn more about speakers, and take advantage of networking opportunities.

Registration is available now through the morning of the conference (May 27, 2021). General Admission tickets can be purchased for $50. Scholarship opportunities are also available to those who qualify. Participants can register at https://youth-substance-use-risk-resilience-reconnection.eventbrite.com/
