My name is Shawnda Numan. I graduated from San Diego State University in 2012 with a Bachelor Degree in Child and Family Development. I have always been passionate about the realm of social work.
I realized I cared deeply about helping children when I was an After School Attendant at the La Mesa Spring Valley School District. I saw firsthand how important it is for children to have positive adult influences in their life.
During my education at SDSU I had an opportunity to intern as an Activities Coordinator for the YWCA Becky’s House. Here, I was able to plan and lead activities for children who were victims of domestic violence. Seeing the difference I was able to make in such a short amount of time is something I will never forget.
Upon graduating college I have developed diverse work experience in organization and event planning. Everything I have learned has molded into the position of Training Assistant for the Public Child Welfare Academy. In this position I get to work in an environment I am passionate about while doing what I enjoy as far as assisting others and event planning.
