Penny Stipend

Penelope Pongun

Penelope “Penny” Pongun has worked with older adults since 2009, when she began her undergraduate BSW internship with Light Bridge Hospice and Palliative Care (LBH). Upon graduating, Penny was hired by LBH, where she continues to work. Through her employment with LBH Penny has had the opportunity to engage with older adults who are facing end-of-life concerns and provide families with bereavement support.
Penny is currently in her second year of the two-year SDSU MSW program and a recipient of the HRSA GWEP Alzheimer’s MSW Stipend for the 2017-2018 academic year. Her field placement, this year, is with Windward Life Care, as an Aging Life Care Manager. As an Aging Life Care Manager, Penny acts as a guide and advocate for clients, and their families, as they journey through the later stages of life. Windward’s Aging Life Care Managers have professional training in working with clients who have a diagnosis of memory loss, Alzheimer’s Disease, or other Dementias. Penny is grateful to be able to blend her compassion for older adults and education into this new role.
