Stipend Recipient's Biography

Ivonne Arias

Ivonne had the opportunity of working with older adults during her first year internship at the Veterans Home of Chula Vista where she gained substantial training while working in an interdisciplinary team. Working with the Veterans was a privilege and after gaining experience in the internship along with personal experience with family members, she wanted to continue to work with the older adult population.

As a part of the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders MSW Stipend program, she currently interns with UCSD Medical Center as a part of the Senior Behavioral Health Program (SBH). UCSD SBH provides a variety of services including general outpatient services, a memory, aging, and resilience center, an intensive outpatient program, and inpatient services, all striving to improve daily functioning and a higher quality of life. Her duties as an intern include patient intake and assessment, co-facilitation of family meetings, psycho-education, assisting with discharge to appropriate level of care, and co-facilitating CBT groups. She is motivated to continue to learn and practice her skills at UCSD SBH!
