Trainer Biography

Gretchen Mallios, LCSW

Gretchen Mallios is a LCSW in private practice in San Diego. Gretchen specializes in working with pregnancy related depression and anxiety, parent well-being, attachment and trauma. She is certified in several treatment modalities that support this work, including Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders and EMDR. In addition to her direct practice work, Gretchen is an advocate for perinatal mental health and is a frequent spokesperson for the issue. She is the past President of Postpartum Health Alliance, serving on the Board of Directors from 2008-2016. She recently served on the California Task Force for Maternal Mental Health Care which resulted in strong recommendations for statewide changes to how we screen for perinatal mental health of the pregnant and new mom. The Task Force findings resulted in legislation that was recently signed by Governor Brown which would bring about an increase in resources and universal implementation of improved standards of care for this population. Gretchen received a dual degree in Social Welfare and Public Policy from UCLA in 2001. Since then, Gretchen has been doing both direct practice and advocacy for child and family well-being in various capacities.
