Intended Audience: Supervisors and/or managers seeking methods and skills to enhance the effectiveness of meetings while making them more productive

Intended Objectives:

  • Identify tools for effective meetings
  • Ways to incorporate decision-making styles
  • Getting decisions made

Topics Include:

  • Purposes and types of meetings
  • Alternatives to meetings
  • Decision-making styles
  • Steps in the meeting process
  • Utilizing effective meeting tools
  • Identifying key roles
  • Developing ILPs (Individual Learning Plans) and TAPs (Team Action Plans)
  • Learn and practice reaching consensus
  • Evaluating meetings

Competencies Addressed:

VI.a Understands negotiation process with individuals or groups who work within and outside the agency.

XIV.a Can lead or attend meetings, committees, task forces, etc.

XIV.b Can conduct regularly scheduled staff meetings

XIV.c Understands group process and can facilitate maximum participation, and meet goals and objectives of meeting
