Foundations for Managers in Child Welfare, LA DCFS: Module One

Level:           Advanced

Credits:        6

 Intended Audience:  Assistant Regional Managers, Regional Managers, Division Chiefs’ or CSA II and CSA III

Description of Course: In Person

Intended Objectives:

  • Review the role of manager
  • Define the function of manager as liaison within communities and across systems
  • Link manager competencies to those within the DCFS shared core practice model
  • Complete a self-assessment to be used to understand strengths and challenges in role as manager
  • List the goals and themes of the manager series including transfer of learning tools
  • Recognize the importance in maintaining the integrity of the organization and identify the manager’s role to support integrity
  • Review a model of critical thinking and create steps to support a culture of thoughtfulness

Competency:

Creative thinking; Develops new insight into situations and applies innovative solutions to make organizational improvements; Designs and implements new or cutting-edge programs/processes.
