Sharon Giles
Sharon Giles is a retired Oxnard Police Department (OPD) Commander with nearly 30 years of law enforcement experience. Throughout her career, Sharon worked in various assignments, but she found the most rewarding work in investigating and advocating for abused children and women.

Sharon spent almost 22 years in the Investigative Services Bureau, overseeing criminal investigations of sexual abuse, child abuse, missing and abducted persons, domestic violence, elder abuse and homicide.
A strong advocate for victim rights, Sharon built partnerships with community organizations and other law enforcement agencies to combat abuse against women and children.
Sharon holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Management and has completed extensive training in child abuse cases and family violence. She is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisor Leadership Institute, and the California POST Management School. Sharon has received numerous awards during her career, including the “Ellie Liston Crime Victims’ Award” from the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office for her commitment and dedication to victims of crime. been the recipient of numerous awards. One of the awards Sharon is most proud of is the “Ellie Liston Crime Victims’ Award” that was presented to her by the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office for her commitment and dedication to victims of crime. In 2020, Sharon received a “Chiefs Award of Excellence” for creating “OPD University” a training platform for officer at the Oxnard Police Department.
During her law enforcement career, Sharon served as an instructor, chairperson and board member for various community and State organizations. She is currently an advisory board member for the California Child Abduction Task Force and works part-time as an investigator for the City of Santa Barbara City Attorney’s Office.
