Trainer Biography

Matthew Verdun, LMFT

Matthew Verdun is a Licensed Mental Health Clinician at Behavioral Health Services for the County of San Diego’s Health and Human Services Agency. He currently works in Pathways to Well-Being, San Diego County’s implementation of the Katie A. Settlement Agreement. He has trained case managers and clinicians in the implementation of Pathways to Well-Being for two years. Prior to joining Pathways to Well-Being, he trained case managers at Regional Center of the East Bay in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
Matthew has extensive training in multiple treatment modalities. He has been certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. He has also been trained in use of Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
Matthew received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with a Minor in Chemical Dependency Counseling from Alliant International University in 2004. He completed a Master of Science in Counseling, Marriage, Family and Child Therapy, with Honors, from University of Phoenix in San Diego in 2008. His internship hours were completed at a Wraparound program in San Francisco, Regional Center of the East Bay in Contra Costa County, and as a volunteer HIV support group facilitator at the Rainbow Community Center of Contra Costa County.
