Crystal Shackleford, MSW

Ms. Shackleford worked for Riverside County DPSS Children’s Services Division (CSD) for 10 years prior to moving to Staff Development. She worked in the Court Dependency Unit conducting juvenile court investigations and providing case management for 4 years. She then became a forensic interviewer for the Department, conducting over 400 forensic interviews of children who were victims or witnesses of physical and/or sexual abuse. In this setting, she worked in a multi-disciplinary setting including law enforcement, district attorneys, medical staff, and social workers.

Mrs. Shackleford developed and supervised the Riverside County CSD Professional Intern Unit, which is a unit comprised of MSW and BSW level interns from 6 universities managing family maintenance and family reunification cases.

Mrs. Shackleford was also a group facilitator for men in Parents United, a group treatment program for perpetrators of interfamilial molest. She teaches at Loma Linda University’s Department of Social Work and is also a trainer for the Southern Public Child Welfare Training Academy through San Diego State University’s Academy for Professional Excellence.

Mrs. Shackleford joined Riverside County DPSS Staff Development Division in 2007 where she is a Staff Development Officer responsible for the development and implementation of CSD training for various levels of staff, primarily Children’s Social Service Workers.
