ACADEMY TRAINERS

The Academy uses a variety of trainers who are experts in their subject areas.

PCWTA (Public Child Welfare Training Academy) trainers are experts in areas of child welfare. Most PCWTA trainers have significant experience in child welfare services and all of them are expected to link the material they present in Academy classes to Child Welfare Service practice. Our trainers are evaluated by the trainees and by the Training Center Directors following each class to insure that they are providing up to date information, utilizing good training techniques and skill-building experiences that are current, relevant and represent best-practice standards. Trainer curriculum is expected to reflect the child welfare outcomes of safety, permanence, well-being. Additionally, curricula is expected to weave in the themes of fairness and equity, youth and family engagement, evidence based practice, outcome-informed practice, and strength-based practice.

LIA (Leaders in Action) trainers are experts in aspects of executive development. Many trainers also possess knowledge and skills in human services leadership. LIA trainers train tomorrow's leaders in human services for Southern California counties.

Tribal STAR trainers are experts in Tribal and Child Welfare issues.

Project MASTER trainers are experts in issues related to the abuse and neglect of adults.

BHETA (Behavioral Health Education and Training Academy) trainers are experts in the mental health field.
